A North Potomac man was charged Thursday with assault and impersonating a police officer, Gaithersburg Police said. Travis Merrill Anderson, 39, of the 12000 block of Gravehurst Lane was operating a white police interceptor Crown Victoria with tinted windows and equipped with a spotlight and emergency equipment, police said. Anderson allegedly conducted a traffic stop on Oct. 13 in the area of Darnestown and Quince Orchard roads, in which Anderson identified himself as a Montgomery County Police officer, police said.
