MVF President Endorses Three Candidates For Board of Directors Election
Bob Hydorn will support Scott Dyer, Sharon Cranford and Elena Peterson in the 2013 Montgomery Village Foundation Board of Directors election.
With four candidates vying for three seats on the Montgomery Village Foundation's Board of Directors, March's election will send one candidate home unhappy. Running for the seats are current board member Scott Dyer, who is seeking re-election; Sharon Crawford, who serves on the Whetstone Board and is running for a seat on the MVF Board for the first time; Elena Peterson, who is currently president of South Village and is running for a seat on the MVF Board for the first time; and Don O'Neill, who is running for a seat on the MVF Board for the third time. Montgomery Village's family-friendly fall festival will also feature pumpkin pie-baking contest, face-painting, games, food vendors and music.
We'll let you in on a little secret: the upcounty's most... um, compelling ... race of the season doesn't involve presidential politics or the power-play for Maryland's 6th Congressional seat. No, in our humble opinion, the race most worth watching this fall involves dozens of pumpkins, primped—if not pimped out—in a wild assortment of adornment and decoration. Families, HOA boards, Girl Scout troops and senior citizen groups will descend en masse on North Creek Community Center on Saturday for what is fast become Montgomery Village's most-talked-about happening. Pumpkin race rematch gives Gaithersburg's mayor a chance for revenge against his Montgomery Village counterpart.
All hail the pumpkin. Saturday promises a plethora of fall-themed folly at Montgomery Village’s second-annual Fall Festival: hayrides, scarecrow making, jack-o-lantern decorating, face painting, kids crafts, live music, good eats and tailgating games. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at North Creek Community Center, culminating at 2 p.m. as Montgomery Village and Gaithersburg’s top elected leaders vie in an entirely different kind race—that is, pumpkin racing.
