Tanya, I know that "Shakeology" is a new product by "Beachbody" and had tried it recently as well. They recommend it as a replacement for one meal a day. It might work for some people, but… I like my real, less processed food with all energy in it.

Tiffany, You are right, it is very important to choose the right protein shake. If you are a high-performance athlete looking to boost protein after working out or performing, you probably need a very different shake than someone who is looking for a way to lose weight.
Athletes generally want protein shakes that not only contain protein, but also contain reasonably high levels of carbohydrates to give their body immediate energy, and some amount of fat.
For weight loss- I think people need to find shakes that have very little carbohydrates and fat, and are more filled with protein.
And people such as athletes or ones who engaged in moderate body building would need shake that falls somewhere in the middle- around a 30% -40% of protein.
It’s very important to figure out how much protein you actually need. Most people only need around 3.5 grams of protein for every ten pounds of weight. And don’t forget you getting some of that from your food. Most people actually eat more protein than that, so it is really only people who are working out extensively or building muscle need protein shakes. I personally don’t use protein shake and feel great by getting my nutrients from food and exercising regularly.

Wendy, thanks for your feedback. I’m sure you’re more knowledgeable than Microsoft Word spell checker and have a better grammar understanding, as well. However, this is not a news story, it’s a personal blog. Generally, blogs are written by different people who what to share their ideas, thoughts and experiences with others. Some of these are written by immigrants whose English might not be as perfect as yours, but at least they try. I’d love to read some of your articles so I could learn from the professional, such as yourself.
On a happy note, try to be more positive and life will be giving you more pleasure and happiness. Have a good day. -
