Second Rabid Raccoon Found In Gaithersburg Community
The animal was found last week in the East Deer Park neighborhood.
A second rabid raccoon has been found in Gaithersburg's East Deer Park neighborhood, according to a news release.
Gaithersburg Animal Control officers responded to a call on Tuesday, July 16, regarding a sick raccoon in a resident’s yard in the 100 block of East Deer Park Drive, the city said.
Test results confirmed the raccoon was infected with rabies.
A dead raccoon was also tested positive for rabies on June 27, in a resident’s yard in the 200 block of East Deer Park Drive.
Gaithersburg officials recommend anyone who's been in contact with the raccoon contact the Montgomery County Health Department immediately at 240-777-1755.
