UPDATE: Dead Man's Body Pulled From Gaithersburg Pond

Police: The cause and manner of death are still under investigation.

Montgomery County police are investigating a “suspicious death” after discovering the dead body of a man floating in a Gaithersburg pond.

The body was found Sunday in the pond near the entrance of the Nike Missile Local Park at 8500 Snouffer School Road, police said in a release. Police responded just after 12:30 p.m. to the scene near the Montgomery County Airpark after someone reported seeing a body in the pond.

In collaboration with fire and rescue units, police pulled the man's body from the pond. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Maryland-National Capital Park police responded to a call at the same location Friday evening when someone reported finding clothing near the pond, county police said in the release.

Park police recovered the clothing at the scene and are working with county police to determine if there is a connection between the two incidents. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation.

On Sunday evening, county police released photos of tattoos found on the body and clothing found at the scene.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call county police at 240-773-5070.
