Quince Orchard Wrestler Wins Gold At Junior Olympics

Connor Tilton won a gold medal in the Junior Olympics' heavyweight division.

A Quince Orchard High School athlete is a Junior Olympics gold medalist.

Wrestler Connor Tilton, last year's 3rd place finisher in the the Maryland state tournament's 220-pound weight class, was one of the three Potomac Valley teams competing in the AAU Junior Olympics in Detroit this week, QO wrestling coach Rob Wolf said.

Tilton finished undefeated and captured the gold medal in the heavyweight division (285 pounds) at the Junior Olympics.

Wolf was not surprised by his star's performance.

"Connor only lost to two wrestlers last season and they happened to be the ones who finished first and second in the state," he said. "This season he has his sights set on being the one at the top of the podium at the Maryland State tournament.

"He knows that hard work in the off-season is what separates the champions from everyone else which is why he's dedicated himself to participate in high-level competitions such as the one this past week in Detroit. I think that the results from this tournament show that he's definitely on the right track."
