With music programs being cut nationwide, the Rock School Scholarship Fund is helping one Gaithersburg student pursue a future in rock 'n roll.
Jarret Karner, of music school, was awarded a three month scholarship from the RSSF based on his passion and desire to learn to play rock music, according to the school.
Billie Joseph, site director of Bach to Rock Gaithersburg, said in a statement that Karner had more than earned the opportunity.
"We're especially proud of Jarret's accomplishments since joining Bach to Rock's Gaithersburg school last summer," Joseph said. "We believe that the opportunity given to him by the RSSF will allow him to develop his rock music skills as he continues to explore Bach to Rock's educational opportunities."
Bach to Rock is a music education school for students of all ages from early childhood through high school and beyond, according to the school. The school believes that learning music is fun and students learn best when they play music they enjoy.
The RSSF provides scholarship funds and instruments for children ages 7-17 who want to attend any rock music school in the United States.
