Children's Musical at the Arts Barn

KAT 2nd Stage's production of "A Year With Frog and Toad" plays at the Arts Barn through September 25, 2011.

KAT Second Stage's Family Theatre Production of Robert and Willie Reale's musical "A Year With Frog and Toad" brings an unlikely friendship to life.

Frog, played by KAT's , is a jolly fellow who is in sync with the seasons and knows just what to do when things don't go well.

Toad, played by , is a bit contrary and frets over any mishap, small as it may be.

Based on the story by Arnold Lobel, the theatrical production of "A Year With Frog and Toad" features a lively ensemble of characters, loud and realistic sound effects, creative costumes, limited audience interaction and a set fit for winter hibernation, spring awakening, summer fun and autumn coziness.

Frog and Toad's friendship grows as they spend time together and give each other unexpected gifts with surprising consequences as one event leads to another in 17 songs.

A charming ensemble made up of a chorus of classy and chipper migratory birds (Jenny Abraham, Justine Lore, , David "DJ" Wojciehowski), an enthusiastic, wide-grinning and fortuitously slow messenger snail (Wojciehowski), a pragmatic socialite mouse with a southern accent (Abraham) and a gossipy turtle (Lore) who urges everyone to "getta load of Toad" when he feels uncomfortable dressed in a bathing suit, accompanies Frog and Toad on their adventures.

The show is presented in one act without an intermission and runs at the Arts Barn Theatre through September 25 with performances on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The KAT Second Stage artistic production team includes: Darnell Morris, Director/Choreographer/Set Designer; Mayumi Baker, Music Director; Eleanor Dicks, Costume Designer; Ben Levine, Lighting Designer; Doe Kim, Master Carpenter.
