City Sponsors Bus Trips to Kennedy Center Performances

The City of Gaithersburg invites you to enjoy the arts with bus trips to see three captivating shows at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.  Performances include 46 Circus Acts in 45 minutes, The Trumpet of the Swan and Follies starring Bernadette Peters.

Tickets, which include the show and bus transportation, go on sale Monday, November 29, 2010 for City residents and Wednesday, December 1, 2010 for nonresidents. The buses depart from the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 S. Frederick Avenue, next to Gaithersburg High School.

Wherever Circa has taken its breathtaking, heart-stopping show, audiences have flocked to see the impossible. Acrobats bend, fly, juggle and balance to battle the clock. 45 Circus Acts in 45 minutes is fast, furious, and fun for everyone. Children must be at least five years old and in the company of an adult to attend. The show is Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. The bus will leave the Activity Center at 9 a.m. and is expected to return at 1 p.m. Tickets for this show are $20 for City residents and $30 for nonresidents.

The Kennedy Center's commission of E.B. White's The Trumpet of the Swan is back for a return engagement. Though Louis is a trumpeter swan, he was born without a voice. Will the brass trumpet his father gives him bring him freedom, fame and love? Children must be at least seven years old and in the company of an adult to attend. The show is Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 2 p.m. The bus will leave the Activity Center at 12 p.m. and is expected to return at 4:30 p.m. Tickets for this show are $25 for City residents and $35 for nonresidents.

Winner of seven Tony Awards, Follies is one of James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim's greatest works. All of life's might-have-beens take center stage as two couples rehash past times and favorite songs amid the crumbling magnificence of their old theater.  This show contains adult content and may not be suitable for children under the age of 13.  The show is Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. The bus will leave the Activity Center at 11 a.m. and is expected to return between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Tickets for this show are $75 for City residents and $85 for nonresidents.
