Adventist HealthCare has signed a lease for a primary care facility at Clarksburg Village Center, the company announced in a news release Monday.

The Clarksburg site is expected to open in fall 2014. In addition to primary care, the site is expected to include pediatric, obstetrics and gynecology and outpatient rehabilitation services, according to Adventist.

Clarksburg Village Center is a retail center off Snowden Farm Parkway and Newcut Road. A Harris Teeter expected to open in November will anchor Clarksburg Village Center.

Based in Gaithersburg, Adventist HealthCare has an emergency and an oncology centers in Germantown and Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.

Adventist lost its bid to build a hospital in Germantown, where Holy Cross Hospital plans to open a 237,000-foot hospital by 2014, The Gazette reports.

Still a shame that Adventist lost out to Holy Cross. Their application never really stood a chance given the political influence and the relationships that Holy Cross has in Annapolis and in the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. If Holy Cross Hospital Germantown will be anything like the mothership in Silver Spring, I don't envy the local elderly population (see HolyCrossHealth.com).
