Congress. Redistricting: 350K Marylanders on a Forced March Unless Repeal Petition Carries

November Ballot Question Needs Signatures By Midnight Saturday to Survive

Everyone recognizes a "David and Goliath" story.  This one gets no press.  When "Goliath" is our Governor hand-in-hand with the Legislature, the reason are obvious.  But gentle readers, you can have a slingshot and be David with a few clicks of your computer at MDPetitions.com/redistricting/petition

Last March, this pair threw out a new Congressional Redistricting Plan that had broad support across the state in favor of a shameless gerrymander of Montgomery County and Baltimore City voters to rid the Old Line State of Republican representation in Congress--and the Electoral College.  350,000 Montgomery County voters were moved into the Frederick-based district of Roscoe Bartlett, with no thought to the type of representation and issues they need.  Baltimore City was split among two districts, forcing well-meaning neighborhood improvement groups and like to work twice as hard to partner with their Congressional representative(s).

The new law, now in effect and called the "Marymander" has bested several court challenges.  The only remedy left to concerned voters throughout Maryland is to sign the petition at the MDPetitions.com/redistricting/petition website.  This challenge needs 75,000 signatures by this Saturday at midnight to put the new law to put the new to a referendum on the November ballot.
