Celebrating the 4th in Gaithersburg

What's going on, and where to see it.

Those looking to celebrate Independence Day in Gaithersburg can enjoy a parade, a carnival, live music, and fireworks on Monday.

The annual fireworks display at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds will begin at dusk (approximately 9:45 p.m.) following two-hours of live music featuring the Maryland-based band Appaloosa beginning at 7 p.m.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and those walking can enter through Chestnut or Dalamar Streets. The Perry Parkway entrance will be closed.

On Monday morning the Kentlands annual Independence Day Parade will begin at Rachel Carson Elementary School at 9:45 a.m.

Those wanting to participate in the parade are encouraged to decorate bicycles, dogs, scooters, or themselves and meet in front of the school at 9:30 a.m. The parade will go down Tschiffely Square Road to the Clubhouse Lawn where a carnival with a moon bounce, a dunk tank, face painting, and pony rides will run until noon.
