Strawberry Knoll's Quarterly Town Hall Meeting

Parents, staff, and students gathered together in Strawberry Knoll Elementary School’s (SKES) gym this Monday to recognize their students’ academic and behavioral achievements. They opened up the ceremony by singing “You’re A Grand Old Flag,” keeping up with the patriotic spirit of Veteran’s Day. Then they quickly dove into announcing the winners of the many awards given to individual students and classes. The first award to be given was the Certificate of Excellence. It was given to classes who showed an ability to cooperate and collaborate with one another. Next came the AMP Awards, which was given to second grade classes and upward for their performance in Art, Music, and Physical Education. Classes were given special trophies according to which award it won. The music award was especially interesting; the winning class received a small gong as their trophy.

All grades were given the chance to win an award for showing the six fundamental pillars of character. The Red Knight award, named after the school’s mascot, was another award given to classes who demonstrated good behavior in the hallways. Classes had to show the four S’ in the hallway: silence, stillness, straightness, and a smile. The last award given to the Strawberry Knoll classes was the Fine Dining award. To win the award, each class had to show their best dining etiquette. The ceremony was concluded with another patriotic song, “America the Beautiful.” The whole school joined together in song, celebrating their great nation, and also their great school.
