If fresh, hot sandwiches (where the bread is perfectly toasted on the outside and warm on the inside) is what you crave, then head on over to the Potbelly Sandwich Shop. In 1977, a little antique store on Lincoln Avenue in Chicago started selling toasted sandwiches to boost business. These days, Potbelly sandwiches are so popular, that it has put an end to the Potbelly antique portion of the business. Let your mood determine what to order, the choices are endless at Potbelly. The Gaithersburg Potbelly is located in the Washingtonian Rio Center and has funky, antique-like decor. Handmade milk shakes and large pickles round out its menu.

Jersey Mike’s

It started as small, local sub shop in Point Pleasant, New Jersey and has turned into one of the biggest franchises in America. Jersey Mike’s is the so called “American Dream” restaurant with over 500 locations, including Germantown and Gaithersburg. Jersey Mike’s is now open in the Kentlands; located in Kentlands Square at 249 Kentlands Boulevard. Jersey Mike’s has been in existence since 1956. Being a Jersey Girl, and as far back as I can remember, I frequented the Point Pleasant sub shop often. The Gaithersburg location may not have the same “beach” atmosphere as the Point Pleasant Mike’s but it sure does have the same authentic taste and quality freshness that Jersey Mike’s is known for. The menu includes: #2: Jersey Shore’s Favorite, provolone ham and cappacuolo; #5: The Super Sub, provolone, ham and proscuittini; #13: Original Italian, provolone, ham, proscuittini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni and #17: Jersey Mike’s Famous Philly. Try it “Mike’s Way” with onions, lettuce tomato, spices and “the juice” - a combination of red wine vinegar and olive oil blend.

Hours: 10:00am – 9:00pm everyday
