Alleged Park Avenue Burglar Arrested

Police: 18-year-old Gaithersburg resident was charged with first-degree burglary.

Gaithersburg police arrested an 18-year-old Gaithersburg resident following reports of three burglaries on Park Avenue last month.

Manuel Deputy, 18, was arrested Wednesday, police said in a news release.  He was charged with several counts of first-degree burglary, theft and related conspiracy charges tied to a string of incidents on Park Avenue between Aug. 12 and Aug. 22, according to police and Montgomery County District Court records accessed online.

Police named Deputy as a suspect after he was identified by a resident who walked in on an apparent burglary in progress Aug. 22 at his home in the 200 block of Park Avenue.

Police said they’ve since linked Deputy to three other incidents.

On Aug. 12, two burglaries were reported within a half hour of each other in the 200 block of Park Avenue and Lee Street. Another burglary was reported Aug. 20 on the same street, police said.

Police said Deputy was released on a $15,000 bond. A court hearing was scheduled for Sept. 20, according to online court records.
