Gaithersburg Man Arrested While Impersonating A Doctor

The Gaithersburg man was arrested after leaving a hospital in West Virginia.

A Gaithersburg man claiming to be a doctor was arrested on several drug-related charges on May 27, our friends at the Herald-Mail are reporting.

According to the story, James Simmons was pulled over on Rt. 9 in West Virginia around 2:15 a.m. Friday after a Martinsburg Police officer saw him driving at a slow rate of speed.

The officer searched Simmons' blue Honda and found a prescription bottle containing a razor blade, a straw and a small bag of white powder, which was later confirmed to be cocaine, the story says.

The officer said he could smell alcohol, and Simmons seemed disoriented.

According to the article, Simmons said told the officer he was a doctor at City Hospital and had gotten lost.

The officer called City Hospital and they told him Simmons was not a doctor there, but had left there at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, the article says.

An Advil bottle containing Hydrocodone, Clonazepam, Adderall, Gabapentin, Viagra and an unidentified pill also was found in the vehicle, the story says.
