Gazette: New Trial For Vocal Coach Charged With Sex Abuse

Jury was unable to reach verdict in case involving Timothy Ballard, who is accused of sexually abusing an eighth-grade boy, The Gazette reports.

The Gaithersburg vocal coach charged with sex abuse returned to court this week after a judge declared a mistrial for the charge in April, The Gazette reports.

Timothy M. Ballard’s trial began Tuesday. An eighth-grade boy, the alleged victim, said the abuse occurred in the spring and summer of 2008 in the basement of Ballard’s former residence, where the boy went for vocal sessions, The Gazette reports.

But the jury was unable to return a verdict, forcing Montgomery County Circuit Judge Michael D. Mason to declare a mistrial, according to the newspaper's account.
