Minor Attic Fire in Gaithersburg

No injuries, officials say.

There were no injuries after a fire broke out in the attic of a townhouse in the 100 block of Misty Dale Way in Gaithersburg this afternoon, officials said.

Shortly after 2 p.m., firefighters were called to the house after someone reported seeing smoke coming from the roof, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesman Oscar Garcia said.

Firefighters found a small fire around the ventilation fan in the ceiling of the attic, he said.

The flames were quickly extinguished and there were no injuries.

About 40 firefighters were on scene at the height of operations, Garcia said.
