MFCRS: Cause of the fire is still unknown.

A fire that killed a 4-year-old Lancelot Quarshie in Montgomery Village on Wednesday started in a kitchen.

Montgomery County Fire & Rescue service released the boy’s identity and the fire’s origins Thursday. But investigators have not yet said what caused the blaze.

Lancelot was the casualty of an aggressive fire at Cedar Mill Apartments, in the 18200 block of Lost Knife Circle, near Lakeforest Mall. The fire sent several people to the hospital, destroyed 12 residences and displaced 40 people.

More than a million in damage was reported.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said the victim's family was alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm. Lancelot’s father ran out of the house with one child, but the smoke was too bad for him to get back in to save the Lancelot, Patch reported.
