SWAT Called For Sunday Incident Near City Hall

Gaithersburg police responded to a domestic incident after 10 p.m. Sunday on Dogwood Drive.

A late-Sunday incident near City Hall required SWAT assistance before coming to an end.

At approximately 10:03 p.m. Aug. 5, Gaithersburg police responded to a domestic incident in the 200 block of Dogwood Drive, located to the rear of and , Gaithersburg police spokesperson Dan Lane told Patch.

"The known suspect and victim were involved in a physical altercation that led to threats of bodily harm to the victim and those inside the residence," Lane said.

Additional units and SWAT were requested due to the belief the threat was real and the potential for additional firearms inside the home, according to Lane. SWAT entered the residence and apprehended the suspect without incident.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital for an Emergency Evaluation Petition, Lane said.
