Council Says No To $150,000 Frederick Ave Design Guideline Study

The City Council and Planning Commission want a broader vision in place first.

The Mayor and Council, along with the Planning Commission, on Monday decided to hold off on a staff request to spend $150,000 studying design guidelines for Frederick Avenue.

In a joint work session, the Council and the Planning Commission said they would rather have a broad vision for the use and redevelopment of the Frederick Avenue Corridor before hiring anyone to help develop aesthetic rules.

The Gazette reports that "A group of residents who live in the area had spurred the city to start thinking about the corridor after they developed a vision for development in the area in a document they presented it to the city council in July."
