County Police Pay Millions in Overtime

The most overtime is logged at the Emergency Call Center.

Every year, Montgomery County Police spend millions on overtime for sworn officers, ABC7 reports.

The majority of that overtime comes from sworn officers working at the Emergency Call Center, which is located in Gaithersburg.

"Kimberly Jones, the top earner, made $387,754 in overtime over" the last five years, ABC7 reported.

"Since 2002, the county has paid more than $4.3 million to sworn officers working overtime in its call center. Check out detailed numbers here."

Chief J. Thomas Manger said sworn officers were paid overtime rather than find civilians, who could be paid half as much, because the department had trouble finding enough civilians to fill the open positions.
