Five Candidates Certified for Election

All the candidates have been certified by the City to run.

We now know what the ballot for City Council will look like in November.

Last week the Gaithersburg Board of Supervisors of Elections certified the petitions of three candidates for office, bringing the total number of candidates to five.

In order to run, each candidate has to gather at least 100 signatures from registered Gaithersburg voters. And although a formality, the BOSE then goes through each signature and verifies their authenticity.

The three incumbents—Jud Ashman, Cathy Drzyzgula, and Ryan Spiegel—and two challengers—Paula Ross and Tom Rowse—each turned in their petitions. Ashan and Drzyzgula turned in their petitions early and were certified on August 17.

The remaining three were certified on Sept. 21.

The election will be on Nov. 8. For more information, check out the City's election homepage.

The article was corrected to say that Jud Ashman and Cathy Drzuzgula had their petitions certified in August.
