On the Agenda: Railway Safety Study, New Speed Cameras

What the Mayor and Council will talk about tonight at their meeting.

It's been a rough year for the CSX rail line that runs through the heart of Olde Towne—three people have been struck and killed, and a family narrowly escaped with their lives.

And tonight the Mayor and City Council will hear a presentation from MARC and CSX officials that looks at the safety along this section of rail.

The study was begun in February and completed in June.

The Council will also vote on whether or not to install three additional speed cameras in the city.

They could go in the 400 block of Christopher Ave., the 400-600 block of Clopper Road, and the 400-600 block of Girard Steet.

The Council will also hold a public hearing on updates to the salaries and benefits received by elected city officials.

There will also be a closed executive session after the regular meeting to discuss the acquisition of property for a public purpose.

Today also happens to be the last day that candidates wishing to run for City Council can file a petition to enter the race. The election will be Nov. 8.
