VIDEO: Gaithersburg TV Receives Government Programming Award

The city was recognized for its production of the 2011 "Building on Our Success" video.

The city of Gaithersburg received a Government Programming Award for its production of "Building on Our Success" from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA), the city announced Monday.

The piece also received an Honorable Mention in the category of Community Awareness.

"Building on Our Success" debuted at the April 2011 State of the City dinner and focused on economic development, highlighting the many housing and commercial projects currently underway, and other initiatives designed to spur the local economy.

The video runs periodically on the city's Cable TV station — Comcast and RCN Channel 13 and FiOS Channel 25 within City limits — and can also be viewed online at the city of Gaithersburg website and on YouTube.

NATOA awards recognize excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. This year the association received more than 650 entries submitted by local governments across the country and Canada.  Entries were judged in 66 different categories.
