QO Student Named National Merit Scholar

Gaitherburg's Jane A. Chen receives coveted honor.

's Jane A. Chen, a Gaithersburg resident, was among 28 graduating seniors from Montgomery County Public Schools to be named a National Merit Scholar, according to a report by The Gazette.

Chen, who will study law in college, received a $2,500 scholarship from MCPS for her accomplishment.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation, founded in 1955, is an independent, not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. Since its founding, NMSC has recognized 2.9 million students and provided over 360,000 scholarships worth more than $1.4 billion.
