A longtime Gaithersburg baseball coach was honored for his work Monday evening as the 2013 Middle Atlantic Recreation and Sports Alliance “Good Sports” Award recipient.

Marc Berk began his tenure with the Gaithersburg in 1994 with the tee-ball program and has continued coaching through 2013, according to the city.

In 1997, Marc and his wife, Helene, created the Sam and Claire Rosen Fund in honor of his grandparents and their passion for baseball, according to the city. This fund has afforded deserving Gaithersburg youth the opportunity to participate in the City's baseball/softball program.

Berk serves as an ambassador, promoting Gaithersburg's philosophy of youth sports and has continuously given back to his community through his volunteerism.
