POLLS: How Will the Redskins Fare This Season?

Training camp for Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins opened Thursday in Ashburn, VA.

The Washington Redskins opened arguably the most anticipated training camp in the Dan Snyder era Thursday with fans awash in excitement for the official debut of new franchise quarterback Robert Griffin III.

As The Washington Post's Jason Reid put it:

Forget about the [Redskins’] past two disappointing seasons under Coach Mike Shanahan. Never utter John Beck’s name again. The Redskins got a sorely needed fresh start when they drafted rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III, and this season his development is all that matters.

As important as Griffin's development may be, fans still want to see the team win, and do so sooner than later. Is the No. 2 overall draft pick's presence enough to help the team improve on its 5-11 record from a season ago?

Reid says the burgundy and gold have major holes to fill on the offensive line, at running back and in the secondary, and that "it’s wise to assume they will miss the playoffs for a fifth consecutive season."

The team has two and a half weeks of training camp and four preseason games to address those holes before opening the 2012 season on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Sept. 9.

Do you think the Redskins will take a major step forward this season or will they remain at the bottom of the division and league? Tell us in the comments and weigh in on our three polls.
