Skate Park To Open Next Friday With Free Admission For 2013

The City of Gaithersburg Skate Park will open for the 2013 season at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013.

Skaterboarders, inline skaters, BMX bikers take note: Gaithersburg's skate park is re-opening next week and it won't cost anything to get in.

Located behind the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, the Skate Park opens Friday, March 22 at 3 p.m., the city announced. Regular hours are 3 p.m. to sunset Monday through Friday and noon to sunset on weekends.

The 2013 season will be free for all visitors. Previously, daily admission cost $3 for city residents, $5 for non-residents, a spokesperson for the city said.

Extended hours will be in place during spring break, March 22 through April 2, when the park will open daily at noon.

Skateboarders and inline skaters are welcome during all sessions. BMX bikes are permitted every day except Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The city requires parkgoers wear helmets, but elbow and knee pads are optional. Inline skaters are required to wear wrist guards and all safety equipment is available for rent.
